Company Information and History
With an initial capital of ¥93.31 million, Dempa Publications, Inc. was founded on May 5, 1950 at a time when the electronics industry in Japan was still at the early stage of development. Dempa Publications was one of the pioneer media companies that has been covering and serving the various facets of the electronics industry and related fields through Dempa Shimbun, which made its maiden issue in in January 1951, initially, as a monthly newspaper.
Since then, Dempa Publications opened its doors to a host of multi-lingual publications that served professionals not just of the electronics and semiconductor industries, but also of information technology, consumer and home electronics, and many others. Among its notable publications that have been published and made mark in the international scene include Journal of Electronics Industry (1972); Office Equipment and Products (1972); Audio Video International (AVI) magazine (1972); Microcontroller BASIC magazine (1987); OA PC magazine (1988), among others. The Broadcast Equipment and Technology (BET) were also published in time for major broadcast industry's major trade events, namely the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas, Nevada in April, and the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) Show in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
The company also published the monthly B2B English magazine Asia Electronics Industry (AEI) from October 1996 until December 2021. Special print edition magazines of AEI will continue on a limited basis in time for major industry trade events.
In August 2021, the company introduced AEI Online News and signaled the company's foray to online media platform. AEI Online News provides daily updates on disruptive technologies and state-of-the-art products and solutions in and around the manufacturing ecosystem.
For over 60 years now, Dempa Shimbun Daily remains as Dempa Publications' flagship Japanese trade newspaper. Circulated largely in Japan, it has more or less 300,000 subscribers and pass-around rate of 5.2 readers per issue. It provides timely information to professionals, covering the most vital sectors and areas of the electronics industry, such as information technology, communications, semiconductors and devices, electronic components and materials, home electronic and electrical appliances, consumer electronics, factory automation and measuring instruments, as well as electronics retailing.
Dempa Publications is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. It presently maintains a branch office in Osaka, as well as satellite offices in Fukuoka, Sendai, Nagoya, and Hiroshima across Japan. Overseas, Dempa Publications has branch offices in Seoul, Korea and Manila, Philippines, as well as a sales office in Taipei, Taiwan.
