Alps Electric Co., Ltd. showcased solutions for CASE—short for connected, autonomous, shared & service, electric—which is a growing automotive trend, at the recently concluded ELEXCON. The company's exhibits centered on communications modules, such as Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) modules and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) modules, which are necessary for CASE.

Alps Electric also showed concrete implementation samples of internet of things (IoT) network modules, which have begun to steadily expand in the Chinese market as well.

TDK Corporation showcased products for the automotive, information and communications technology (ICT), and industrial machinery and energy fields, which the company has been promoting worldwide. In particular, the company displayed its main products, including capacitors, sensors and actuators, as well as power supplies.

Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. highlighted cutting-edge technology sensors that support IoT and high-reliability products for the automotive sector under the "SMART" theme. The company demonstrated optical wireless communications and other technologies targeted at the security market. Businesses targeted for the automotive and industrial machinery sectors, which are its priority industries, have been steadily expanding in China as well, according to Taiyo Yuden. The company also notes that with industrial equipment, sales of ICT infrastructure systems, such as base station communication systems for 5G and servers for data centers, have been brisk.

Nichicon Corporation showcased compact lithium-ion batteries, which the company released in Apr. 2018. The smallest model measures 3mm in diameter and 7mm in length and has achieved quick charge and discharge at a high rate of up to 20C. Application of the batteries in a wide range of fields, including IoT, is expected, and Nichicon intends to step up their proposal in the Chinese market as well.

KODENSHI CORP. showcased diverse sensors that support a smart society. Robots and other solutions, which incorporate various sensors with high recognition accuracy, including face recognition, have been attracting attention. Lan Changxue, Chairman of KODENSHI China Co., Ltd., says, "We would like to help customers enhance their design efficiency by offering our company's sensors with high technological expertise in modules. From now on, we would like to expand business in new fields, such as the medical field, by proposing solutions."
